GM Indonesia to launch new products in 2010
Kompas, 9 Feb '10
In 2010, General Motors Auto world Indonesia (GMAI) is all set to change the image of itself in Indonesia with a revolutionary change in product philosophy. Throughout 2010, GM Indonesia will introduce a trio of products that like the new Cruze, Beat and Orlando.
One new product is Orlando. It is planned that this product will replace the Captiva SUV, which is now Indonesia's flagship model. However, in the United States, this vehicle is categorized as an MPV (multi van) with a combination of performance SUVs, vans and wagons.
The Cruze is all set to be launched in March with a 1.8 litre engine. With this medium sedan GM will try his luck to compete with Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis, Ford Focus Ghia, Mazda3 and Mitsubishi Lancer which are currently present in the Indonesian market.
"Cruze is the first product that uses GM's new Chevy logo. Represents both a new image that GM changed the concept and revolutionary performance, "explained Deborah Amelia Santoso, Marketing & PR Director GMAI, at the GM Technology Workshop in Bogor.
In the small car segment or city car, GM will launch the Chevrolet Beat in July 2010 (coinciding with the events IIMS 2010). Beat is the successor of Spark. Beat will use a 1.0 litre engine and will compete with Hyundai i10, Suzuki Karimun Estilo, Kia Picanto, Chery QQ and the Proton Savvy.
