2024 electric motorcycle subsidy quota exhausted; data adjustment underway
Kompas Otomotif, 5 Sep '24
The subsidy quota for battery-based electric motorcycle purchases for the 2024 financial year has been exhausted. This was confirmed by the Electric Motor Vehicle Purchase Assistance Information System (Sisapira) data recorded as of September 4th, 2024.
The remaining budget allocation for this year is now zero, indicating it has been fully used.
Budi Setiyadi, chairman of the Indonesian Electric Motor Industry Association (Aismoli), confirmed that the quota has indeed run out, but the government is working to validate the data further.
"I had a meeting with the Ministry of Industry, and it turns out that the registration quota has been exhausted, even exceeding the allocated amount," Budi said on September 4th.
"However, there are leftover applications from 2023 or those from the start of 2024 that did not progress. We are fine-tuning the data for some who have registered but have not met all requirements," he explained.
Budi noted that some applications may be rejected, but the number is expected to be small. If this happens, the quota may be reopened to the public.
"But the number will not be significant. If the registration data is adjusted accordingly, the system will be closed and reopened, but not on a large scale," Budi added. "So, while it appears that the 60,800 units quota has been used up, we are currently refining the data and will reopen the quota, albeit minimally."
