Expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in the compact segment, MG has introduced the MG4 Urban to the market in Singapore, where it was officially launched at VivoCity on April 17th, 2026. While the rear-wheel-driven MG4 EV may still be familiar to many, the MG4 Urban is built on a new cell-to-body platform.
This architecture integrates the battery cells into the vehicle's chassis, enabling weight reduction and increased body rigidity, which contribute to handling and driving performance. It also allows for increased interior space, which is a stated focus of the MG4 Urban.
The adoption of the cell-to-body platform makes the MG4 Urban the first model in MG Singapore's range to utilise this architecture and places it among the compact-segment electric vehicles to do so. The vehicle is now front-wheel driven.
Positioned as the brand's entry-level model, the MG4 Urban features exterior elements that align with current automotive standards. These include integrated LED daytime running lights, LED rear lights and centre brake lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and an active grille system. The headlamps are slimmer than those of the MG4 EV.
The design of the hatchback draws inspiration from the MG Cyberster, particularly in its rounded, low-set bonnet and arrow-shaped tail-lights.
The MG4 Urban places emphasis on comfort and practicality. Despite its dimensions, the vehicle offers interior space supported by a wheelbase of 2,744 mm. It provides 480 litres of boot capacity, expandable to 1,364 litres with the rear seats folded down.
Within the cabin, both the driver and front passenger seats are ventilated and upholstered in vegan leather, with four-way and six-way electrical adjustment respectively. The vehicle is equipped with a 12.8-inch HD infotainment touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a 7.0-inch HD driver display presenting real-time vehicle information.
Additional features include a wireless smartphone charging pad and over 30 interior storage compartments integrated into the centre console. The cabin layout provides an open interior environment, with Sky Grey and Dark Grey interior options available. A panoramic glass roof is also offered and includes an electric sunshade.
Safety features are provided through the MG Pilot driver assistance suite, which includes front collision assist, lane departure and lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, rear collision warning, one-pedal driving, blind spot detection, driver fatigue warning, and driver distraction monitoring. The vehicle is also equipped with a 360 degrees parking camera.
In addition, the MG4 Urban includes seven airbags, comprising front airbags, curtain airbags, and a central airbag between the driver and front passenger.
In terms of performance, the MG4 Urban qualifies for a Category A COE. A single motor mounted on the front axle produces 99 kW and 250 Nm of torque. The vehicle achieves 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds.
The MG4 Urban is powered by a 54 kWh battery, delivering a combined WLTP range of 405 km. Its WLTP city range extends to 586 km, with an efficiency of 15.5 kWh/100 km. The vehicle supports DC fast charging at up to 82 kW, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
The model is offered in seven exterior colours, including Sage Green, along with two interior colour options: Dark Grey and Sky Grey.
MG Singapore has introduced the MG4 Urban at a starting price of SGD 168,888 (US$ 132,700) with COE. The package includes one year of road tax, 500 kWh of Shell Recharge credits, and SGD 500 in MG Care vouchers.
