2020 has ended but the bullish run of the B-SUVs has not and the same was reflected in the December sales of this competitive segment. The compact SUV segment registered a 35% Y-o-Y growth in the month of December 2020.
Hyundai made a massive comeback in the B-SUV segment as the Hyundai Venue topped the December sales with 12,313 units sold, registering a 29% Y-o-Y growth. The bestselling Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza took the second spot as the year ended with 12,251 units sold. Surprisingly, Brezza registered a 10% Y-o-Y degrowth.
Tata Nexon has been grabbing a lot of attention ever since its 2020 facelift entered the market the B-SUV has proved to be one of the fastest-growing competitors in the segment. The homebred SUV managed to secure the third spot with 6,835 units sold, registering a massive 57% Y-o-Y growth.
Kia Sonet's performance in the month of December was quite surprising as the Korean SUV registered its lowest sales ever since its launch. The Sonet managed to sell 5,959 units securing the 4th spot in the segment. Kia Sonet managed to secure a 5-digit sales figure in two consecutive months (October-11,721 units, November-11,400 units) and the M-o-M degrowth will definitely worry the automaker.
Mahindra XUV300 has performed quite decently ever since its launch and it managed to secure 5th place in the segment with 3,974 units sold in December 2020. The XUV300 registered the highest Y-o-Y growth at 86%.
Toyota Urban Cruiser, a recent debutant in the market, follows the top five bestsellers with 1,762 units sold. The Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V had a neck and neck fight with 934 units and 930 units sold respectively. The newcomer Nissan Magnite settled at the bottom of the table with 560 units retailed as the year ended.
