Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) officially entered the Indonesian market, marking its expansion into Southeast Asia's right-hand-drive vehicle segment, with Indonesia serving as its regional base.
The company introduced five models across several segments, including SUVs, MPVs, urban electric vehicles and electric commercial vehicles at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026.
The BAW M8 is a premium electric MPV designed for family use, featuring a spacious cabin and an electric drivetrain. It also forms part of BAW's strategy to expand its global electric vehicle portfolio. The T01 is a body-on-frame off-road SUV equipped with five-link solid axles at both the front and rear to improve durability and off-road capability, while the X03 multifunction SUV combines modern technology, passenger comfort and versatility for urban driving and weekend outdoor activities.
BAW also introduced the D5 compact electric city car, developed for urban mobility with compact dimensions for improved manoeuvrability and lower operating costs, and the T10 Pro electric pickup truck targeting commercial users, including micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), courier services, mobile vendors and light freight operators.
"Indonesia is a crucial market for BAW and a gateway to the right-hand drive automotive industry in Southeast Asia. We aim to provide reliable, intelligent, and affordable mobility solutions for the Indonesian people," said Tocy Tang, President Director of BAW Automobile Trading Indonesia.
Founded in 1951, BAW manufactures SUVs, MPVs, new energy passenger vehicles, electric commercial vehicles and specialised vehicles, and is continuing its international expansion.
