BYD unveils all-new Shark

Maju Motors, the sole distributor of BYD in Brunei Darussalam, has announced the appointment of two authorised BYD service points: Gadong Auto Parts in Gadong and Gan Brother's Workshop in Kuala Belait.
The announcement was made during the launch event of the BYD Shark 6 on 2nd July. The Managing Director of Maju Motors, Chan Key Hong - who signed agreements with both companies - stated that Maju Motors intends to appoint 10 authorised BYD service points across the country within one year.
The launch of the Shark 6 was officiated by the Ambassador of China to Brunei Darussalam, Xiao Jianguo, in the presence of Maju Motors Director Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Yunus, Executive Director Stanley Lim, and Chan Key Hong.
Shark 6
The Shark 6 is a hybrid pickup built on BYD's DMO Super Hybrid Off-Road Platform. It integrates an electric powertrain with an internal combustion engine.
The vehicle is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and has an acceleration capability of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. It produces 430 PS and 650 Nm of torque. It offers a combined range of up to 800 km and a fuel consumption rate of 2L/100 km.
Interior equipment includes:
- A rotating 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- A 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system
- Power-adjustable leather seats
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
- 50W wireless phone charging
- Multiple Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) outlets, including one in the cargo bed
Safety and driver assistance
The vehicle includes over 20 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Emergency lane-keeping assist
- Blind spot detection
- A 360 degrees camera system
These features are intended to assist the driver in various road conditions. The Shark 6 is offered in three exterior colours: Atlantis Grey (Blue), Cosmos Black, and Arctic White. All configurations come with a black interior.
It is classified as a hybrid utility vehicle and is intended for use in a range of driving conditions, including urban, off-road, and longer-distance travel within Brunei.
