Government targets to install 3,000 EV charging stations by 2030

The Pakistan Government has announced a plan to deploy 3,000 electric vehicle charging stations across the country between 2025 and 2030, aiming to accelerate the transition to clean transportation.
An official document shared with the media on 30th November, stated that 240 charging stations have been allocated for the current fiscal year.
The stations will be established by private companies, while the Ministry of Industries and Production, NEECA, the Ministry of Energy, NEPRA, and power distribution companies will jointly oversee the rollout.
The initiative forms a key component of the Draft New Energy Vehicle Policy, developed by the Ministry of Industries and Production to support nationwide adoption of electric mobility.
Since the issuance of the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and Battery Swapping Stations Regulations on 24 October 2024, NEECA has issued 72 licences for EV charging facilities.
