Home-grown two-wheeler manufacturer Hero announced that it will increase the price across its range of two-wheelers by up to Rs. 2000 (US$ 28), although the exact quantum of the increase will vary on the basis of the model and the specific market.
The new price will be effective from January 1, 2020.
Earlier the India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki also announced that it will hike prices across its models from January 1, 2020.
Recently, the two-wheeler major has also discontinued 50 variants of various BS-IV models across scooters and motorcycles to scale up the production of BS-VI vehicles.
The company has recently launched the BS-VI compliant Splendor iSmart.
In an email to its dealers, the company stated that production of more than 50 SKUs of its BS-IV range of products has been stopped. The email also mentioned that Hero would soon stop manufacturing more BS-IV models, and rapidly scale up the production of BS-VI vehicles.
