Honda Malaysia has officially launched the 11th-generation (FE) Honda Civic facelift, following the commencement of order-taking in December 2024.
The variant line-up remains unchanged, offering three petrol options (1.5-litre E, 1.5-litre V, and 1.5-litre RS), along with a single hybrid variant, the 2.0-litre e:HEV RS.
Pricing begins at MYR 133,900 (US$ 29,700) for the base E variant, which is MYR 2,000 higher than the previous model. The V variant is priced at MYR 144,900, while the petrol RS variant is MYR 2,000 more affordable at MYR 149,900. The hybrid RS variant remains at MYR 167,900.
In terms of styling, the new Civic features a redesigned front bumper with a more prominent lower section and slimmer air curtains, replacing the previous fog lamp areas. The main grille has been enlarged, eliminating the pre-facelift's distinct "forehead," and a honeycomb mesh has been added to the lower intake.
These changes increase the vehicle's overall length by 3 mm, bringing it to 4,681 mm, while the width (1,802 mm), height (1,415 mm), and wheelbase (2,735 mm) remain unchanged. The rear design remains mostly unchanged, with the exception of the smoked taillights.
Inside, the dashboard design, free-standing infotainment touchscreen, honeycomb mesh over the air vents, steering wheel, and centre console layout are carried over from the previous model.
The powertrains remain the same, with the petrol variants using Honda's VTEC Turbo engine. The 1.5-litre inline-four engine produces 182 PS (180 hp or 134 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 4,500 rpm, with power sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with seven virtual speeds.
The hybrid variant is powered by the Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system, which includes a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engine that operates on the Atkinson cycle, producing 143 PS (141 hp or 105 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 184 Nm of torque from 5,000 to 6,000 rpm.
This engine primarily functions as a generator for a 1.05-kWh lithium-ion battery, which powers an electric motor delivering 184 PS (181 hp or 135 kW) at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 315 Nm of torque from 0 to 2,000 rpm. The electric motor drives the front wheels via an electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT), handling most of the propulsion. The engine also provides direct drive through a lock-up clutch at higher speeds for improved efficiency.
The petrol variants accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 to 8.5 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h for all three. The 2.0-litre e:HEV variant achieves the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds, with a top speed limited to 180 km/h. The hybrid variant offers the best fuel efficiency at 4-litre /100 km, while the 1.5-litre RS achieves 6.3-litre /100 km, and the 1.5-litre E and V record 6.0-litre /100 km.
Key equipment upgrades include a new 9-inch Advanced Display Audio system, now standard across all variants, with Google built-in, providing access to services such as Play Store, Maps, and Assistant.
Wireless Android Auto is now supported, in addition to the previously available wireless Apple CarPlay. Other features included across all variants are the Honda Connect telematics system, as well as solar and security window film tint from Ecotint.
The 1.5-litre E variant comes with automatic LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, 16-inch wheels with 215/55 profile tyres, remote engine start, walk-away auto lock, keyless entry and start, passive cruise control, Normal and Econ drive modes, and a seven-inch digital instrument display with an analogue speedometer.
The 1.5-litre V adds 17-inch wheels with 215/50 profile tyres, paddle shifters, an additional Sport mode, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, leather upholstery, an eight-way powered driver seat, and four additional speakers, making a total of eight.
The 1.5-litre RS variant includes black-painted side mirrors, a shark fin antenna, a boot lid spoiler, chrome tailpipe finishers, black door handles, leather and suede seat upholstery with red stitching, alloy pedals, a black headliner, footwell lighting, and ambient lighting strips integrated into the gloss black door trims.
In addition, the RS variant gains a wireless charging pad, an additional Individual drive mode, and larger 18-inch wheels with 235/40 profile tyres in a matte black finish.
The top-of-the-range 2.0-litre e:HEV RS features the same exterior design as the 1.5-litre RS, with blue accents for the Honda logo, black half-chrome door handles, and a different seven-spoke wheel design in an 18-inch matte grey finish. It also includes a fully digital 10.2-inch instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, and Active Noise Control (ANC) combined with Active Sound Control (ASC) to reduce outside noise while enhancing engine sound.
In terms of safety, all variants come with six airbags, front and rear seatbelt reminders, a rear seat reminder, ISOFIX child seat anchors, automatic door locks, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Agile Handling Assist (AHA), ABS, EBD, emergency stop signal, and front and rear parking sensors.
Driver assistance systems include auto brake hold, hill start assist, a driver attention monitor, and a multi-angle reverse camera. The LaneWatch blind spot camera (on the left side of the vehicle) is also available, but only from the V variant onwards.
Every Civic variant comes with the Honda Sensing suite, which includes Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Auto High Beam (AHB), and Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN).
Some of these functions have been enhanced, including FCW, which now detects bicycles and pedestrians, and ACC, which now operates with smoother braking and acceleration. LKAS has also been improved for more linear steering assistance.
The Civic is available in five colours, including the new Canyon River Blue Metallic, which replaces Lunar Silver Metallic, along with Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Ignite Red Metallic.
All Civic variants come with a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty and five free labour services within 100,000 km or five years. The 2.0-litre e:HEV RS also includes an additional eight-year, unlimited-mileage warranty for the lithium-ion hybrid battery.
Official accessories are available in several packages, including the Modulo Package (MYR 3,738), which adds front, side, and rear under spoilers, and the Modulo Premium Package (MYR 6,900 for the E and V variants), which includes additional items such as a rear lower garnish, exhaust pipe finishers, a boot lid spoiler, fender garnish, and a black emblem set.
The Modulo Premium Package for the RS variants costs MYR 5,063. Additional packages such as the Urban Package (MYR 3,002) and Utility Package (MYR 659) are also available.
Individual accessories such as door reflective safety film, front and rear digital video recorders (MYR 1,149), a Touch 'n Go RFID tag, and sports pedals are also offered.
