Hyundai has launched the facelifted Ioniq 5 at Rs. 5.57 million (US$ 58,790), introducing a larger battery, revised exterior styling and updates to technology and safety features.
Built on company's E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 5 continues to be positioned as the brand's flagship electric vehicle in India.
Battery and range
The update includes an 84.0kWh battery pack, replacing the previous 72.6kWh unit. The earlier model had an ARAI-certified range of 631 km, while the updated version is claimed to offer up to 690 km. Power output figures for the India-spec model have not been disclosed. Globally, the rear-wheel-drive variant with the 84kWh battery produces 232 PS and 350 Nm of torque.
Exterior updates
The facelift retains the overall design and Parametric Pixel styling of the Ioniq 5, with incremental changes. The front section includes blacked-out elements, a revised bumper and updated skid plates. The side profile features a new alloy wheel design.
At the rear, updates include a redesigned bumper, a new roof spoiler and a revised V-garnish lighting element, while the pixel lighting signature remains unchanged. The facelifted Ioniq 5 is offered in four exterior colour options: gravity gold matte, midnight black pearl, titan grey and optic white, with an obsidian black interior theme.
Interior and features
The interior continues with a dual-screen layout, consisting of two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. The model now features a three-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated four-dot design and a heating function. The cabin is offered in a black interior theme, replacing the earlier white finish.
The centre console has been revised and now includes additional physical controls for functions such as seat heating and ventilation. The wireless charging pad has been repositioned, along with updated cup holders.
In terms of technology, the facelift introduces Hyundai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), controller over-the-air (C-OTA) updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and in-car payment integration for EV charging. A remote immobilisation feature has also been added through Hyundai's Bluelink system. Driver-assistance features now include rear parking collision-avoidance assist and side parking distance warning.
The Ioniq 5 competes with the BYD Sealion 7, BMW iX1 LWB, Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6, MINI Countryman Electric and Volvo EC40.
