Indonesia's completely built-up (CBU) car exports experienced pressure throughout January-September 2026.
Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), total CBU exports decreased by 2.7% compared with the same period the previous year.
Toyota remains Indonesia's largest car exporter. President Director of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Nandi Julyanto, said that several electrified vehicle models contributing to the company's exports include the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid and Yaris Cross Hybrid.
"Currently, hybrid vehicles are still one of the technologies we are developing because demand in a number of export markets is showing growth," Nandi said, as quoted on October 15th.
Daihatsu recorded an increase in exports compared with the previous year, while Mitsubishi Motors also reported growth.
In contrast, Hyundai recorded a 29% decline in exports. Suzuki also saw a 45.7% decline, while Honda's exports fell by 8.5%. Furthermore, Isuzu's exports declined by 27.8%.
Contrary to this trend, Wuling recorded a 14.3% increase in exports. Hino's exports declined by 46.2% compared with the same period last year. Chery and DFSK did not record CBU export volumes in January-September 2026, although both brands had recorded exports during the same period the previous year.
Overall, declining exports from several brands resulted in a correction in national CBU export performance, although Toyota, Daihatsu and Mitsubishi Motors still recorded growth.
