KAMA changes name to Korea Automobile, Mobility Association

The Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association changes its name to Korea Automobile Mobility Industry Association and makes a new start in line with the trend of electrification and autonomous driving.
The Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association announced the new name at the ,20th Automobile Day, commemorative event held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel on May 11th.
In accordance with the Korean name change, the English name was also changed from Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association to Korea Automobile & Mobility Association. However, the English abbreviation is the same as KAMA.
The name change of the association is the first in 11 years. The association, which started as the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association in 1988, changed its name to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association in 2012.
Taking this name change as an opportunity, the association announced its ambition to play a leading role in the era of great transformation of future cars.
"The automobile industry is expanding beyond the boundaries of the existing industry to various mobility industries with the acceleration of electrification and the emergence of new means of transportation such as autonomous driving," said Chairman Hoon Kang. "We have changed the name to reflect these changes."
For the transition to the future car industry, he enacted the Special Act on Future Car Support for electrification of parts makers fostered 30,000 future car convergence manpower by 2030 internalised sensors such as semiconductors for vehicles - improved labor flexibility, emphasised what it should be.
Meanwhile, at the commemorative event held one day before Automobile Day, 34 people of merit who contributed to the development of the automobile industry were rewarded.
