Mazda Taiwan has announced that it will officially commence accepting pre-orders for the all-new third-generation CX-5 will on July 28th.
While the company has yet to reveal the model line-up or pre-sale pricing, recently released government testing data has provided an early indication of the variants expected to arrive.
Although Mazda Taiwan has not disclosed detailed specifications, information from the Ministry of Environment's In-Use Motor Vehicle Noise Database has confirmed the arrival of the 2027 model-year CX-5. The vehicle received approval on July 13th, confirming the introduction of the third-generation model in Taiwan.
According to the certification records, two variants will be available at launch: the CX-5 AWD R and CX-5 AWD P. Both are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.
No front-wheel-drive variants appear in the database, suggesting Mazda will initially focus on all-wheel-drive versions for the local market.
The records also list an engine displacement of 2,488cc, confirming the use of a 2.5-litre petrol engine. However, Mazda has yet to disclose the exact powertrain specification for Taiwan.
In Japan, the new CX-5 is offered with a 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv mild-hybrid system producing 178 PS, with an electric motor contributing an additional 6.5 PS. In North America, the model is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre petrol engine generating 187 PS.
Industry speculation suggests Mazda Taiwan could also introduce the existing 2.5-litre turbocharged engine used in higher-specification models, which produces 230 PS. However, the company has not confirmed which powertrain will be available locally.
Further details, including the official model line-up, pricing and Taiwan-market specifications, are expected to be announced during the media preview on July 28th.
