Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) has stated that the progress of the recall campaign for the Xpander due to the fuel pump problem has reached more than 70%.

Boediarto, general manager of after sales MMKSI, said that until now the process of repairing the fuel pump on the Xpander model produced between 2017-2019 is still ongoing.

"Until now, the progress has been more than 71%, and it is still running. Meanwhile, there are no consumer complaints on such problem experienced this," said Boediarto in a virtual press conference, recently.

He also appealed to consumers who have not made repairs, immediately come to the dealer to have their vehicle checked. If affected, the company will immediately repair it for free. Meanwhile, it is estimated that the inspection will take about 1 hour per unit, while the inspection and repair process will take about 2 hours per unit.

Based on Bisnis records, the repair campaign for Xpander with production year between 2017-2019 has started since June 22, 2020. There are 139,111 Xpander units affected. It was found that the fuel pump in the Xpander tank could stop operating, potentially causing the engine to not start or stop working.

A possible cause is that the impeller or vane expands and deforms, so that it rubs against the surrounding parts. This causes the impeller to stop rotating. The repair campaign was carried out to check the label of the Xpander fuel pump module and replace the unit with an improved one.
