Mitsubishi Motors has unveiled its mid-to-long-term vision plan, outlining a strategy that includes 13 new models between fiscal years 2026 and 2031 while identifying the Philippines as one of its focus markets in the Southeast Asia region.
The product programme includes the already confirmed Pajero and an all-new Xpander, along with six models within the company's off-road product group, comprising a minivan, a small SUV, a compact SUV, two larger SUVs and a pickup truck.
Mitsubishi also plans to introduce five new OEM-supplied models, likely sourced through the Renault-Nissan Alliance. These are expected to include two battery electric SUV models, one pickup truck and two kei cars, consisting of one battery electric vehicle and one wagon model.
The company indicated that the all-new Pajero will serve as the basis of a broader vehicle series, with the model line being reintroduced as a distinct sub-brand. Similar to previous generations, the Pajero range is expected to include multiple variants and body styles.
Three vehicle silhouettes shown during the presentation suggest that, in addition to the Pajero, Mitsubishi is preparing an additional SUV and a smaller model. This appears to indicate that the Pajero and Montero Sport will remain separate products and may also signal the return of a smaller Pajero-branded model.
The Philippines was identified as one of Mitsubishi's focus markets, alongside Japan and Vietnam. This reflects the role of the Philippine market within the brand's regional operations.
As part of its regional sales and production strategy, Mitsubishi outlined two objectives: the local production of new HEV models and the expansion of sales of higher-priced vehicles through enhanced financing programmes.
The plan to locally produce HEV models aligns with Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation's participation in the Philippine government's Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS) programme, which supports the local production of electrified vehicles.
Within the ASEAN region, Mitsubishi currently offers two HEV models: the Xpander HEV and the Xforce HEV. The Xpander Cross HEV is regarded as a variant of the Xpander HEV. The Xforce HEV is also expected to be among the vehicles showcased at the upcoming Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), based on recent teaser materials released by the company.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi's plan to expand sales of higher-priced vehicles is expected to be supported by the introduction of the Outlander PHEV, which is anticipated to make its official debut in the Philippine market in the near future.
