Renault targets EUR 2 billion exports from India by 2030

Renault Group is targeting EUR 2 billion (US$ 2.35 billion) in annual exports from India by 2030, as it seeks to expand the country's role in its global operations.
The export plan will extend beyond vehicles to include components, technologies, and engineering services. The upcoming Bridger SUV will be the first model designed, built, and exported globally from India under the company's FuturEReady plan.
Export strategy and India's role
The export plan will not include vehicle shipments to Europe. "In the EUR 2 billion [plan], there is no export of vehicles to Europe," Renault CEO Francois Provost told media sources.
Instead, the company will focus on exporting vehicles to other markets while scaling shipments of components, technologies, and engineering services. "There is potential for exports from Chennai for vehicles, but there is potential for parts, components, technologies, and R&D," Provost said.
He added that India's role will extend beyond manufacturing, with the country supporting global programmes in areas such as connectivity and software. "What is embedded in the plan is not just cars, but technologies and components," he said.
Provost also outlined India's position within Renault's global operations. "India represents more than one-third of the global market where the company operates."
Wider India strategy
The export plan forms part of Renault's broader India strategy, which includes a seven-model product expansion and a multi-powertrain approach spanning internal combustion, hybrid, CNG, and electric vehicles.
The company is targeting localisation levels of up to 90% to improve cost competitiveness and reduce supply chain risks. India is also being positioned as a manufacturing and engineering hub, supported by Renault's Chennai facility, which has an installed capacity of 480,000 units, nearly triple the current production.
"These initiatives are aimed at positioning India among Renault's top three markets. The company is targeting year-on-year growth and placing India at the centre of Renault Group's global operations," said Provost.
