Financial Express, 4 Apr '24
Suzuki recently launched the V-Strom 800DE in India at a price of Rs 1 million (US$ 12,345) (ex-showroom).
Now, the Japanese bikemaker has unveiled a touring-friendly version of the adventure bike. The latest introduction expands the V-Strom 800 range to three variants - the standard model, the off-road focussed 800DE and the 800RE for road-biased touring.
2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800RE: Price & features
The V-Strom 800RE Touring is based on the standard variant but benefits from additional accessories as standard offerings that make it more enticing for those who love to venture on long tours. These include side panniers, and top boxes which provide a cumulative storage space of 112 litres.
It is to be noted that these are the same pannier boxes that are offered as accessories for the standard variant. This variant is now available for sale in the United Kingdom. Buyers can choose from either silver or black three-piece luggage, comprising a top box and panniers, and with an OTR price of GBP 11,200 (US$ 14,170) customers will save GBP 706.94 over equipping the standard V-Strom 800RE with the individual accessories.
The V-Strom 800RE is available in three shades including blue, matt steel green, or black. Rest of the details are identical to the standard V-Strom 800. In terms of features, it gets three colour TFT dash, three selectable power modes, switchable traction control, a bi-directional quick-shifter as standard, and three traction modes.
2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800RE: Specs
Like the 800DE, suspension duties are carried out by a Showa setup, but with a focus on on-road performance with a 150mm of travel at both front and rear. The V-Strom 800RE rides on 19-inch front and 17-rear cast aluminium wheels while braking is carried out by Nissin radial callipers.
As for ergonomics, aluminium, rubber-covered foot pegs are set 14mm further rearward and 7mm higher than the V-Strom 800DE, and aluminium tapered handlebars are 13mm lower and 23mm further forwards.
Powering the V-Strom 800RE is the same 776cc parallel twin engine with its 270-degree crankshaft that pumps out 84 PS and 78 Nm of torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch.
