Toyota Indonesia has confirmed that it will produce electrified cars, especially hybrids, next year. Bob Azam. director of Corporate Affairs, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), said that Toyota's production readiness for electrified cars is sufficient. The company only needs to consider its battery technology which will be the energy source for driving the motor.

"We can't confirm the number [amount]. The important thing is that we will start producing with small numbers next year," he said to a daily.

He explained that the national electrification car market should start with hybrid cars. Currently, global electrified cars are also dominated by hybrids. After all, he said, hybrid car models could be more relevant in Indonesia and could maintain the competitiveness of national cars in the export market.

"If hybrids can enter the lower segment, this could even be very positive. Indeed, we are leader in the low segment. Of course, it would be great if Indonesia could enter electrification faster, but we still have to open all channels ."
