Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer Ultraviolette has secured a new funding round of US$ 85 million, led by deep-tech investors Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, to support manufacturing expansion, international growth and the development of next-generation electric vehicle platforms.
The investment round also includes participation from Lip-Bu Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Intel, Chairman of Walden International and an advisor to Ultraviolette, along with the company's existing long-term investors, which include Zoho, TVS Motor and Qualcomm Ventures.
The fresh capital comes as Ultraviolette prepares to significantly increase production capacity through a new manufacturing facility in Hosur, which is planned to have an annual production capacity of up to 500,000 units.
The expanded production capabilities are expected to support the company's existing product portfolio, including the F77 Mach 2, F77 SuperStreet and X-47 electric motorcycles, while also enabling the launch of upcoming models such as the Tesseract and Shockwave.
Ultraviolette said the funding will also be directed towards the development of its next generation of global EV platforms. The company has developed in-house expertise in battery technology, power electronics, vehicle architecture and software, and currently works with battery architectures ranging from 48V to 400V. According to the company, this vertically integrated approach enables the creation of platforms tailored to different vehicle segments and performance requirements, while optimising factors such as range, thermal management, packaging and overall performance.
Alongside manufacturing and product development, international expansion remains a key priority. Ultraviolette currently operates in India and across 20 European countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland and Hungary.
The company plans to enter the United States market in 2027, while also expanding into Latin America and Southeast Asia as part of its broader global growth strategy.
Ultraviolette said the additional capital and continued support from investors will help accelerate production, strengthen research and development capabilities, and support the rollout of future products and platforms for both domestic and international markets.
