Wuling collaborates with Transjakarta on low-emission public transportation
Kabar Oto, 4 Nov '25
The commitment to adopting low-emission public transportation in the capital is increasingly evident. Wuling Motors (Wuling) and Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 20th.
The signing ceremony, held at the TransJakarta Building in East Jakarta, marked the beginning of trials for Wuling's commercial electric vehicle, the Mitra EV. The MoU was signed by the President Director of Transportasi Jakarta, Welfizon Yuza, and the President Director of Wuling Motors, Tang Wensheng.
This development forms part of joint efforts to increase the use of lower-emission public transportation in Jakarta.
TransJakarta is developing an electrification roadmap, targeting the gradual procurement of 3,000 new fleet units and 3,000 electric replacement units. This initiative aligns with Jakarta's plan to introduce more low-emission transportation options.
"We hope that EV Partners will become a trusted partner in supporting safe, comfortable, efficient, and sustainable transportation services," stated Kharismawan Awangga, Sales Operation Director of Wuling Motors.
The Wuling Mitra EV, Wuling's first electric commercial vehicle in Indonesia, has been introduced with the principle of "One Partner, Many Solutions". The model is designed for multiple uses, including passenger transportation.
Key features:
- Cabin capacity with practical access.
- Air conditioning (double-blower AC).
- Four-way adjustable driver's seat and tilt steering.
- Lower operating costs supported by energy efficiency.
- Fast charging capability.
Transportasi Jakarta acknowledged this initiative. The Director of Operations and Safety at TransJakarta, Daud Joseph, stated that this collaboration is an initial step towards public transportation services with reduced emissions.
"This trial will run for the next month. TransJakarta continues to collaborate with various parties to develop a transportation ecosystem with lower emissions," he stated.
Daud added that TransJakarta has also requested Visi Indoprima Persada to collaborate with SGMW in supporting the development of the Microtrans EV ecosystem in Jakarta. Through this trial, the Wuling Mitra EV will be assessed for its suitability for TransJakarta in supporting low-emission urban mobility in the capital.
