Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), the sole distributor of Honda cars in Indonesia announced a recall for several car models in Indonesia due to the Takata Airbag Inflator.

Withdrawal of Takata air bags has been carried out on a large scale in recent years. In fact, Takata is one of the big players in the air bag industry that is used by almost all world-class car manufacturers.

A number of vehicle manufacturers in Indonesia which uses Takata air bags have also made several product withdrawals. Takata air bags are found to experience production defects which cause the inflator to inflate metal when expanding.

This time, Honda has announced for replacement of airbag inflator in 7,330 units of the car, because there is a potential excessive airbag inflation resulting in broken airbag that pose danger to the driver and passenger.

The models involved includes 211 units of Honda Accord 2003, 1,652 units of Honda City 2004-2008, 668 units of Honda Civic 2001-2005, 2,926 units of Honda CRV 2002-2006, 1,362 units of Honda Jazz 2004-2008 and 511 units of Honda Stream 2002-2006.

Based on the official statement on August 12th, HPM will send notification letters directly to the identified vehicle owners.
