According to people familiar with the matter, Beijing Automotive Group Co (BAIC Group) has finally mastered Saab's Know-How after two years' of its purchase of the former's assets, and plans to showcase the acquired Know-How to the public in a short term, reported a media source.

BAIC, China's fourth largest carmaker, has bought part of Saab assets from General Motors in US$ 200 million at the end of 2009. BAIC purchased Saab's passenger car models 9-3 and 9-5 and equipment for production of the two models.

The acquisition included Saab IPR technologies such as whole-vehicle and auto parts design standards, test measures and standards, analyzing measures, quality and manufacturing process, and supplier management system.

It is reported that BAIC has transferred and filed off 90 percent of Saab technology standards and applied them simultaneously to its own model development.

The purchase could furnish platforms enabling BAIC to develop its own mid-level car brand complying with European quality and safety standards, said the company.
