BYD, in collaboration with its sole authorised distributor John Keells CG Auto (JKCG Auto), announced the launch of the Atto 1 and Atto 2 in Sri Lanka.
The models were first presented to the public at the Colombo Motor Show, held from November 21st to 23rd at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), and are now part of BYD's portfolio of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in Sri Lanka.
The Motor Show also displayed BYD's broader portfolio, including the Sealion 5, Sealion 6, Shark 06, Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, and M6. The fully electric hatchback Atto 1 is built around BYD's Blade Battery and 8-in-1 electric powertrain, designed for efficiency and durability.
Its compact size and lightweight construction suit urban travel, offering a driving range of 300 km on a single charge.
Features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, wireless charging, and a six-airbag safety system.
The compact SUV Atto 2 uses BYD's CTB (Cell-to-Body) platform, which integrates the battery into the vehicle structure to improve rigidity, safety, and handling.
On the inside, it includes a 12.8-inch touchscreen, voice assistant, ventilated front seats, and a range of driver-assistance features. Systems such as the 360-degree monitor, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assistance are available.
JKCG Auto CEO Charith Panditharatne stated, "Sri Lankan consumers are offered a range of NEVs catering to different price points, driving patterns, and requirements. BYD's technology, including battery engineering, structural integration, and control systems, supports the performance of these models in real-world conditions."
The Atto 1 has a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
