It began with the Atto 3 in 2022, followed by the Atto 1 at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025, and now the Atto 2 has taken centre stage at the NADA Auto Show 2025.
With this, BYD Nepal has completed the full Atto range.
Cimex, the official distributor of BYD in Nepal, has been responsible for the launches of the Sealion 7, Atto 1, and Atto 2 in the country in 2025.
The latest addition, the Atto 2, is a compact electric SUV, a segment that has gained rapid popularity in Nepal. The Atto 3 was among the first e-SUVs in the market and quickly became a success, even earning the distinction of being the best-selling SUV in Nepal.
However, intensifying price competition among manufacturers has placed the Atto 3 in a comparatively higher price bracket. Recognising this, BYD Nepal introduced the Atto 2 at a more accessible price point.
The BYD Atto 2 is priced at NPR 4.4 million (US$ 31,400) in Nepal and is available in a single variant. It positions itself between the entry-level Atto 1 and the more expensive Atto 3, while also competing closely with the Dolphin, offering buyers the choice of a hatchback or a compact SUV without the additional cost of the Atto 3.
The Atto 2 is supported by BYD's extended warranty scheme, which includes a 10-year or 200,000 km warranty on the battery and motor.
Powering the vehicle is a 100 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) that produces 136 PS of maximum power and 290 Nm of torque. The Atto 2 incorporates BYD's 8-in-1 integrated system, which combines several key components into a single unit. BYD states that it is the first such system to enter mass production, underlining the company's technological progress.
The Atto 2 is equipped with BYD's Blade Battery technology, featuring a 51.13 kWh pack that delivers a WLTP-certified range of up to 345 km. Charging options include a 7 kW AC charger, which can fully charge the battery in approximately eight hours, and an 82 kW DC fast charger, which can recharge the battery from 0 to 80% in around 25 minutes.
With a front-wheel-drive layout, the Atto 2 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about nine seconds and reaches a top speed of approximately 150 km/h.
