Chery has announced plans to upgrade its factory in Thailand to support production of the V23 and Q EV models.
The company is also evaluating the possibility of increasing production of PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) models within the next year.
Jim Lee, Managing Director of Chery Thailand, stated that during nearly one year of operations in Thailand, the company has recorded growth in its business. Combined with the launch of the Q EV and plans to launch another new model towards the end of the year, Chery expects to continue expanding its presence in the market during 2026.
Lee added that plans are being developed to expand production of the V23 and Q models. In addition, the company is studying the possibility of increasing PHEV production within the next year. Thailand remains part of Chery's operations in Southeast Asia, and the company continues to invest in the market while expanding its business activities.
The company stated that construction of the Chery vehicle assembly plant in Rayong Province is progressing. The project involves an investment of more than THB 5 billion (US$ 149.9 million) on a 166,400 square metre site. The facility is expected to serve as a production base for the company's operations in Thailand and the wider region.
Meanwhile, the company continues to expand its 3S dealer network, which currently comprises 55 dealerships nationwide. Chery aims to increase the number of showrooms and service centres to 70 by the end of 2026.
The company also plans to open a Certified Body and Paint Centre from August 2026. Chery customers will have access to insurance partners and repair services through the company's service network.
The company is also preparing to double the size of its spare parts warehouse. Plans are in place to expand the facility in the Bangna-Trat area from 5,000 square metres to 10,000 square metres to support spare parts management for Chery vehicles in Thailand.
At the same time, Chery is allocating more than THB 34 million to establish a Technical and After-Sales Service Personnel Training Centre, which is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026. The facility is intended to provide training and support the company's future operational requirements.
In terms of customer service, Chery continues to collect customer feedback and suggestions. During the first half of the year, the company implemented several measures, including investing more than THB 46 million to upgrade the V23's side mirrors, providing loan vehicles for customers during maintenance periods, and increasing the number of wall charger installation technicians.
