Dongfeng Aeolus, a Chinese automotive company, introduced its new electric vehicle, en 008, in April 2023 at the Shanghai Auto Show.
It is positioned as a premium brand below Dongfeng's Voyah range, en 008 aims to capture the market with stylish design and technologically advanced electric vehicles. The first model launched under the en brand was the en 007, an EV sedan, which went on sale on March 14th, 2024.
Official photographs of the new 008 first emerged earlier in April on social media, and now, even more details have come out on social media about the vehicle, which is set to be unveiled at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show later in April.
New official photographs of the en 008 have recently been released, providing a better glimpse into the design and features of this new vehicle.
The photographs show that the en 008 shares a similar design language with its predecessor, the en 007. However, it distinguishes itself by adopting a popular trend in automotive design-the seamless light bar that runs across the front fascia.
Interior of the car features a matrix-style lighting design, adding a futuristic feel. The hood's lines and the front bumper's three-stage air intake design also contribute to a more stylish appearance.
In terms of dimensions, the en 008 measures 5002mm length, 1972mm width, 1732mm height, with a wheelbase of 3025mm. The vehicle's substantial size gives it a commanding presence. It hints at a large rear passenger space, further complemented by the use of low aerodynamic drag wheels for the plug-in hybrid version and 7-spoke wheels with side-view cameras for the all-electric variant.
The rear design of the en 008 harmonises with the front, featuring a seamless light bar with matrix-style lighting elements. This design language improves the vehicle's futuristic aesthetic and provides high visibility when illuminated.
As for the interior, spy photographs of the en 008's cabin reveal a minimalist approach similar to the en 007 design. The interior has a dual-tone colour scheme and is devoid of physical buttons.
The steering wheel features a two-spoke, flat-bottom design, accompanied by a fully digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen display. The vehicle incorporates a floating console design, providing storage space beneath it, and the central armrest compartment also offers storage capacity.
In terms of powertrain options, the plug-in hybrid version of the en 008 will feature a combination of a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and an electric motor, delivering a maximum power output of 108 kW and a pure electric range of 154 km.
On the other hand, the all-electric variant will be equipped with a 200 kW electric motor, providing an impressive range of 636 km.
