In a move toward reducing carbon emissions and enhancing sustainability in the delivery service sector, Flash Express, a delivery service provider in the Philippines, has teamed up with Shell Fleet Solutions to join the Accelerate to Zero initiative.

The partnership aims to tackle the carbon footprint generated by Flash Express's extensive nationwide operations by leveraging Shell's advanced technologies and expertise in decarbonisation efforts.

Through the utilisation of Shell Fleet Solutions Application Programming Interfaces (API), Flash Express intends to meticulously analyse the carbon emissions associated with its operations and implement strategic measures to significantly diminish its fleet's overall environmental impact.

"The decision comes at a critical juncture as the logistics market in the Philippines is poised for substantial growth, projected to reach approximately PHP 160 billion (US$ 2.7 billion) by 2027, according to estimates by a research group. With this surge in demand for delivery services, there is an urgent need to address the environmental ramifications of such rapid expansion," said Flash Express.

Despite motorcycles being the primary mode of transportation for delivery services, the operational inefficiencies contribute to a considerable carbon footprint. Instances of motorcycles making multiple trips over short distances for delivering small packages or meals are commonplace, highlighting the necessity for optimising delivery routes and adopting sustainable practices.

Through participation in Shell Fleet Solutions' Accelerate to Zero initiative, Flash Express aims to gain valuable insights from data analysis and access a comprehensive suite of solutions tailored to their transportation needs.
