Indonesia's automotive industry is preparing for the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, scheduled to take place from July 30th to August 9th at ICE BSD City, Tangerang.

Several manufacturers are expected to introduce new products and model updates across the electric, hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) segments.

Aletra to debut new three-row electric MPV

Aletra has started teasing a new model ahead of its debut at GIIAS 2026. A teaser image released through the company's official social media channels shows a vehicle covered in black fabric, although its silhouette indicates a large multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). The teaser also reveals LED daytime running lights (DRLs), while the remaining design details remain concealed.

The teaser follows an earlier confirmation by Aletra and SAG Product Manager Christo Antyo that the company would introduce what he described as the "little brother" of the L8. The upcoming model will retain a three-row seating configuration, targeting Indonesia's large MPV segment.

Christo did not disclose the model's name or detailed specifications but said the vehicle would compete in a segment with strong domestic demand. Company currently offers only the L8 electric MPV, priced at IDR 488 million (US$ 27,330). The addition of a second model is expected to expand the company's product range in Indonesia's electric MPV market.

Audi preparing new Q Series SUV

Audi Indonesia has confirmed that it will unveil a new member of its Q Series at GIIAS 2026. Audi Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Edo Januarko Chandra said the new model forms part of the company's 2026 product strategy.

"In recent months, we've introduced a number of models with very different characters. But Audi's journey this year doesn't stop there, at GIIAS 2026, we will introduce a model that will be an important part of brand's journey in Indonesia and further complement the Audi Q family," he said.

Although company has not revealed the model's identity, Edo said clues had already appeared on the company's social media platforms. Company's current Indonesian Q Series line-up includes the Q3, Q5, Q7 and Q8. Globally, company also offers the Q2, Q4 e-tron, Q6 e-tron and Q8 e-tron, none of which are currently sold in Indonesia. The new launch could therefore either expand the brand's conventional SUV range or add to its electric SUV line-up.

Earlier in 2026, brand has introduced the S3 sports sedan, the S3 Verve Edition in District Green and the new Q5 Sportback.

iCAR V27 to introduce REEV technology

iCAR Indonesia is expected to introduce the all-new V27 at GIIAS 2026, marking the company's expansion beyond the battery-electric V23 with its first Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV). Unlike a conventional hybrid, the V27's electric motor exclusively drives the wheels, while its petrol engine functions solely as a generator to recharge the battery when required.

Product Planning Manager Tommy Hermansyah said the configuration provides an electric driving experience while reducing concerns about charging infrastructure.

"This concept provides a driving sensation similar to an electric car because power is still distributed instantly through the electric motor. On the other hand, drivers do not need to worry too much about the availability of charging stations when traveling long distances because the generator engine can help maintain the battery's energy supply," he said.

The V27 is claimed to offer a combined driving range of more than 1,200 km on a full battery charge and a full fuel tank. The SUV features a boxy design with LED lighting, pronounced wheel arches, rugged bumpers, high ground clearance and a premium-styled exterior. Inside, it includes a minimalist dashboard centred around a large digital display, premium cabin materials and a dual panoramic sunroof.

Expected features include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 540-degree camera, nine driving modes and Advanced Parking Assist capable of automatically parking the vehicle. According to the company, REEV technology could appeal to buyers seeking electric driving characteristics without relying entirely on charging infrastructure and could create a new segment within Indonesia's electrified SUV market.

Geely expanding ICE line-up with Okavango

Geely Auto Indonesia is expected to expand its ICE portfolio with the launch of the seven-seat Okavango SUV following the introduction of the Coolray. The Okavango was displayed during the "Geely Refining Tomorrow" event in Mandalika, Lombok, ahead of its expected debut at GIIAS 2026.

Geely Auto Indonesia Sales Channel & Development Director Constantinus Herlijoso confirmed that another ICE model would be introduced this year.

"For this year, it is very likely that in the near future we will have one more ICE model," he said.

Despite the growing shift towards electrification, Herlijoso said company continues to invest in internal combustion engine technology.

"The development of ICE engines is actually still far and very wide, one of which is how Geely introduced methanol engine technology that can be combined. In various other parts of the world, this technology is still needed," he added.

Previously marketed as the Haoyue in China and the Philippines, the Okavango measures 4,860 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width and 1,770 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm. Internationally, it is offered with two turbocharged petrol engines: a 1.5-litre unit producing 181 PS and 280 Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre engine producing 218 PS and 325 Nm of torque. Both are paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

Further evidence of the model's arrival comes from Indonesia's Intellectual Property Database (PDKI), where the Okavango trademark was registered under number IDM001344365. The application was submitted on December 16th, 2024, published on December 27th, 2024, officially registered on June 10th, 2025, and remains protected until December 16th, 2034. The trademark registration, together with Geely's earlier preview of the model, indicates that the Okavango is expected to make its Indonesian debut during GIIAS 2026.
