Indonesia is developing its electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem through partnerships covering aftersales support, charging infrastructure and battery swapping. Autoguard Group Asia-Pacific (APAC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (PERIKLINDO) to become its preferred EV warranty provider. Separately, three state-owned enterprises have agreed to collaborate on infrastructure development under the National Electric Motorcycle (Molinas) programme.
Autoguard Group APAC's appointment was formalised at a signing ceremony held during the PERIKLINDO Electric Vehicle Conference (PEVC) 2026 at the Mövenpick Hotel Jakarta City Centre. Under the agreement, the company will provide aftersales support to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), vehicle importers and other automotive industry stakeholders seeking extended warranty solutions through its association with PERIKLINDO, Indonesia's largest EV association.
The MoU outlines Autoguard Group APAC's plans to provide dedicated warranty solutions for the regional EV market. The company, which has its regional headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, is targeting the wider Asia-Pacific market as part of its global expansion strategy.
Jamie Francis Morais, business development director at Autoguard Group APAC, said the agreement formed part of the company's regional operations. He added that the collaboration with PERIKLINDO would involve the development of dedicated EV warranty solutions as part of its aftersales services for the automotive industry.
Morais also referred to the company's investments in technology for claims processing, its experience in providing warranty solutions across international markets and its end-user services. He said these areas would form part of Autoguard Group APAC's operations in the automotive aftersales sector as the transition to electric mobility progresses.
The MoU signing formed part of PEVC 2026, an EV industry conference organised by PERIKLINDO in collaboration with Gemalindo. The event was held in Jakarta and hosted 500 representatives, including policymakers, corporate leaders, venture capitalists and international delegates from China, Taiwan, South Korea and other markets. Its relocation to Jakarta was attributed to the expansion of its network of strategic partners.
Held under the theme 'The Future of a Clean and Efficient Mobility', PEVC 2026 provided a forum for discussions on green mobility, Indonesia's position in the global EV supply chain and the development of an electrified economy. The conference also featured presentations on EV technologies.
Separately, state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, through its subsidiary Pertamina Patra Niaga, has signed an MoU with electricity provider PLN and defence and technology company Len Industri to advance the Molinas programme. The agreement was signed in Jakarta on October 27th in the presence of senior officials from Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund, Danantara.
The agreement establishes a framework for the three companies to develop EV battery charging and swapping infrastructure as part of the government's plans for the electric motorcycle sector.
Eko Ricky, retail marketing director at Pertamina Patra Niaga, said the agreement would increase the company's involvement in Indonesia's energy transition. He added that the Molinas programme was also intended to support the country's target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 or earlier.
Ricky said the transition to electric mobility required the development of supporting infrastructure alongside vehicle supply. He added that an energy network accessible across different regions was necessary. Pertamina Patra Niaga plans to expand its downstream infrastructure by integrating its fuel stations and strategic retail outlets with EV battery charging and swapping facilities.
The company has converted 837 fuel stations into 'green energy stations' across Indonesia. These facilities include 112 EV charging points and 122 battery-swapping facilities for electric vehicles, including motorcycles. Ricky said the initiative formed part of the company's plans to develop energy infrastructure for electric mobility. He also said that the three state-owned enterprises shared the government's target of reducing transport-related emissions.
Launched by President Prabowo Subianto in August, the Molinas programme is intended to develop Indonesia's electric motorcycle supply chain. Its proposed ecosystem covers domestic capabilities in component manufacturing, vehicle assembly, battery production and aftersales services.
The agreements involving Autoguard Group APAC, PERIKLINDO, Pertamina Patra Niaga, PLN and Len Industri cover different areas of Indonesia's EV sector, including warranty and aftersales services, charging infrastructure and battery-swapping facilities.
