Honda has begun assembling the UC3 electric scooter in Vietnam, making it the second electric scooter model to be assembled locally by the Japanese automaker after the Icon e:.
The first batches of locally-assembled UC3 scooters have arrived at authorised Honda Exclusive Authorised Dealer (HEAD) outlets in the Hanoi area.
According to observations at dealerships, the locally-assembled Honda UC3 has the same design and equipment as the units previously imported from Thailand. The scooter is available in two variants, priced at VND 80 million (US$ 3,096) and VND 81.4 million (US$ 3,150), respectively, inclusive of VAT.
Honda continues to offer a promotional campaign that reduces the effective price of the UC3 to between VND 56.5 million and VND 57.9 million. At these prices, the electric scooter competes with petrol-powered models such as the Honda SH Mode 125 and Air Blade 160, as well as the electric Dat Bike Quantum S1. Local assembly in Vietnam is also expected to help address the supply shortages experienced during the UC3's initial distribution phase and reduce delivery times.
The UC3 is an electric scooter with a minimalist design, curved bodywork, an arched rear section and a continuous horizontal LED lighting arrangement. It is equipped with an electric motor producing approximately 8.11 PS and has a top speed of 82 km/h.
According to the manufacturer's specifications, its acceleration performance is equivalent to that of a petrol-powered scooter with a 160 cc engine. The UC3 has a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that meets IP67 waterproofing and UN R136 safety standards, providing a riding range of approximately 120 km on a full charge.
The UC3 uses the CHAdeMO charging standard for two-wheelers. The supplied charger has a power rating of 1,200 W and can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in approximately two hours, with a full charge taking around four hours.
