Honda invest IDR 337.5 billion to increase production capacity
Indonesia-based Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) has invested IDR 337.5 billion (US$ 35 million) to boost production capacity from current 60,000 units to 80,000 units.
The additional capacity is meant to help HPM meet its sales target of 100,000 units.
Yosep Swasono Agus, Corporate Communications Manager, HPM, said the fresh funds have been invested to strengthen the production line, especially in the welding process by buying a new robot. This will help the company produce more units in less time.
"In addition, we are also updating the paint process [to make it] faster, but will produce the same quality," said Yosep.
Jonfis Fandy, Director of Marketing and Sales Service, HPM, added that additional production capacity at the plant will first be used to produce existing models such as the Jazz, Freed and CR-V.
In addition, Honda Indonesia also officially set up two new companies:
1. Honda R&D Indonesia - with an investment of IDR 33.7 billion, this division is responsible for surveying the market and supporting new product development.
2. Honda Accessories - with an investment of IDR 24.1 billion, it is responsible for localising original accessories and spare parts.
