Jaecoo to enter local market in 2025

Chery has confirmed that its sub-brand, Jaecoo, will enter the Indonesian market in 2025.
Initially, Jaecoo will operate under the Chery brand, but it is planned to become a standalone entity in the future.
Zeng Shuo, the Assistant President Director of Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI), stated that Jaecoo will eventually have its own dedicated team, separate from Chery.
"Next year for sure. However, the specific month cannot yet be confirmed," said Shuo during an event in Tangerang, Banten, last weekend.
"Jaecoo will have its own dealer network and team. Therefore, I feel it is not appropriate to provide extensive details about Jaecoo at this stage, as it will later have its own team," he further added.
"The plan is for Jaecoo to eventually operate independently, although initially, it will remain under CSI," Shuo elaborated.
When asked about the specific models to be introduced, Shuo refrained from providing details but assured that Jaecoo models already available in global markets would be launched in Indonesia.
"The current product line-up includes the J7, J8, and J9. These models will definitely be introduced in Indonesia in the future," he confirmed.
Earlier, during the test drive of the Chery J6 in Bogor in early November 2024, Rifkie Setiawan, Head of the Brand Department at Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI), explained Jaecoo's positioning within the Chery Group.
"Jaecoo is positioned as a premium brand that caters to various segments, including off-road enthusiasts. The J7 and J8, for instance, are specifically designed for off-road use," Rifkie stated.
He further mentioned that Jaecoo models would feature a mix of powertrains, including internal combustion engines (ICE), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and battery electric vehicles (BEVs). For the BEV segment, the J6 model will be used.
It is worth noting that Chery recently launched the Chery J6 at GJAW 2024. The vehicle, previously referred to as the iCar 03, was showcased at the GIIAS 2024 event in July.
While "iCar 03" is the model's name in China, the global market outside China uses the name J6. However, Indonesia has opted to retain the name Chery J6.
