icars.sg, 5 Jun '09

Proton-owned British-based sports car maker, Lotu has launched its Evora in Singapore via local dealer EuroSports.

Potential customers can expect deliveries by late this year or early 2010.

The mid-engined Lotus Evora, which is available in both 2-seater and 2+2 forms, is powered by a Toyota-sourced, but Lotus-tuned all-alloy 2GR-FE 3.5 litre 24-valve V6 with dual VVT-i that is able to pump out 276HP at 6,400 revs and 342Nm of torque at 4,700 revs.

Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Evora is able to sprint to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, all the way up to 250 km/h. Weighing at 1,350 kilograms, the Evora also features Bilstein/Eibach suspension and Lotus AP Racing 4 piston calipers with vented and cross-drilled brake discs. More features include ABS, traction control, Lotus tuned TRW steering rack and more, although EuroSports Lotus has yet to confirm the standard equipment list for the local market.

The Evora is also expected to be offered with many other amenities and creature comforts such as leather seats, on-board tyre pressure monitoring, air-conditioning, airbags, Alpine multi-media system, GPS, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity functions, reversing camera and more.

However, during the launch at it's showroom in Teban Gardens, EuroSports only showcased a 'prototype' model, and revealed that although the exterior design and powertrain features would remain the same, the interior quality and design would be slightly different for the actual production model. For those of you who are interested, EuroSports will be able to offer test drives by September.

The official dealer has also revealed pricing details for the new sports car. Prices for the 2-seater would start at S$ 316,800 (US$ 219,400), while S$ 328,800 will get customers the 2+2 model. Both prices are inclusive of COE.
