MG Pakistan to export cars to Bangladesh from 2027

MG Pakistan is preparing to enter the Bangladesh vehicle market, with plans to export cars from Pakistan.
The company plans to send two completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle units to Bangladesh in September 2026. The vehicles will be used for the local approval process. If the vehicles receive the required approval, regular exports are expected to begin in 2027.
Export plan
The plan follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between MG Pakistan and its Bangladeshi partners in July 2026. The company said the project is intended to increase vehicle exports from Pakistan. It is also being carried out with the support of SAIC Motor.
MG Pakistan said the move could increase Pakistan's participation in the regional automotive market. The company also said the project could contribute to Pakistan's car manufacturing sector and create additional opportunities for vehicle exports.
Regional export plans
Pakistan's automotive industry has primarily focused on the domestic market. Companies are now exploring ways to increase exports to other countries. MG Pakistan's plan to enter Bangladesh could lead other vehicle manufacturers in Pakistan to consider international markets. The company said the project is intended to support Pakistan's development as a regional centre for automobile production and exports.
MG launches new HS petrol SUV
MG Motors Pakistan has introduced a new petrol version of the second-generation MG HS in Karachi.
The company held an event to introduce the new model, along with its existing HS Hybrid+ and Super Hybrid variants. The new MG HS is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. MG Motors has set the introductory price at PKR 8.38 million (US$ 31,780). Bookings are also open, with an initial payment of PKR 1.5 million.
Key specifications of the new MG HS
The new MG HS measures 4,655mm in length, 1,890mm in width and 1,664mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765mm. The SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 167 PS and 250 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed DCT gearbox.
