Mazda Philippines appears to be preparing for the launch of the all-new, third-generation CX-5.
First unveiled globally in July 2025, the all-new CX-5 is expected to be offered in two variants for the Philippine market, both of which have been recognised as hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) by the Department of Energy (DOE). This is based on homologation documents filed by the carmaker with the agency. The model joins the Mazda3 HEV and CX-30 HEV on the DOE's list of recognised HEVs.
The 2027 CX-5 is expected to be available in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) HEV variant and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) HEV Premium Plus variant.
In both cases, the third-generation model, internally known as "KM", is equipped with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine. The powertrain is listed as producing 182 PS (133 kW), with 4.8 kW (6.61 PS) contributed by an electric motor. It also features a 0.22kWh battery pack.
These figures correspond with the CX-5's sole global powertrain option, an electrified 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G engine producing a combined 182 PS and 242 Nm of torque. The petrol engine generates 180 PS and 237 Nm, while the electric motor contributes 6.5 PS and 61 Nm.
It measures 4,690 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,695 mm in height, making it 115 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the current model. Its wheelbase has also increased by 115 mm. The exterior features a more angular design and incorporates Mazda's Signature Wing grille between redesigned lighting elements. Inside, the CX-5 retains a minimalist cabin layout focused on passenger accommodation and functionality. Larger door openings have been introduced, while the seating layout includes additional legroom throughout the cabin.
Cargo capacity has increased, with the luggage area now 50mm longer and more than 25mm higher. The loading height has been reduced by 18mm compared with the outgoing model.
Expected features include a panoramic sunroof, a tan-coloured Nappa leather interior, a Bose sound system and a 15.6-inch touchscreen display featuring a new operating interface. The model also incorporates an expanded range of safety technologies and has received five-star ratings from both ANCAP and Euro NCAP crash safety assessments.
