Mercedes-Benz launches new C-Class in Philippines
Mercedes-Benz launched the facelifted C-Class in the Philippines on August 3rd.
The facelift updates the vehicle's headlamps, front and rear aprons, taillights, interior details and transmission.
The change is most evident in its exterior that bears rounder headlamps, looking more like the current SL-class, with integrated daytime running lamps. The park lights form a "C" close to the grille while an LED strip runs along the bottom of the cluster.
The tail lamps are LED now as are the foglights that, like the E and S-Classes, have been replaced with LED strips as well. The new sportier and aggressive style of the aprons imbues a more masculine character to the car.
Like before, the C comes in two trim levels; Avantgarde bears the big Benz logo on the grille while Elegance is distinguished by the classic hood mounted logo.
The headlamps now bulge and sweep up at the corners, not unlike its Bavarian counterpart. LED technology is used for the daytime running lights built into the headlamp clusters, as well as on the taillights. An aluminium hood helps to reduce weight.
Inside, the interior features a flat-bottomed steering wheel, an 11.4-cm high-resolution monitor built into the dash, a new coloured LCD in the central dial, and the Command dial control system now standard for the entertainment system. Interior colour schemes now stretch from a monotonous grey to a warmer cream that even lines the ceiling.
Improvements have also been introduced to the engine and transmission department.
Like before, the C-Class cars actually use a 1.8 litre direct injection turbocharged four cylinder, with the output varying depending on the model. The top-of-the-line C300 uses a 3.0 litre V6. What's new here is the inclusion of the 7-speed automatic transmission, called the 7G-Tronic as standard.
All engines also boast of Blue Efficiency, Mercedes-Benz's badge for improved fuel efficiency and power recovery.
