New motor show to be held in Bangkok
Bangkok Post, 15 Oct '13

A new annual automotive trade fair is set to join an already busy calendar in Bangkok in 2014.

Organised by Yanyont Publishers, the 2014 Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale is scheduled to take place from August 16th to 24th at the Bangkok International Trade Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bang Na.

Yanyont chairman said this event will focus purely on car sales, unlike the two other leading motor shows that encourage carmakers to highlight concept cars as well.

"There is no such thing as a high season for selling cars anymore," he said. "As long as there are special sales campaigns by carmakers, people will buy cars any time."

Some TRHB 100 million (US$ 3 million) will be invested in the nine-day show, of which THB 60 million goes to exhibition space and around 20-30% for advertising.

Yanyont chairman said exhibitors can enjoy a 50% savings on show space compared other auto fairs, which now number five per year in the capital. The rates are set at THB 13,999 per square metre indoors and 7,999 baht outdoors.

"We want carmakers to focus purely on sales. We hope to make this event the largest of its kind in ASEAN," he said.

The two most important car shows are the Bangkok International Motor Show every March and the year-end Thailand International Motor Expo.
