Nissan is said to be preparing to launch the new Tiida in the Chinese market.

Not many small displacement turbos are available in China - GM have introduced the Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T and the Buick Excelle 1.6T and VW have also introduced the 1.4TSI engine in the Bora, Lavida and Golf range, but these are largely the exceptions to the market.

Now, a 2011 Nissan Tiida complete with a 1.6T engine has been sighted near Shanghai by local auto fans and leaked to the internet. It seems that the Tiida will be getting the Nissan Juke's turbocharged engine, which comes with 188bhp (140kw).

Dongfeng-Nissan have seen strong growth in the Chinese market with their comprehensive line up of vehicles, that range from small mini cars to large SUV's and MPV's. The addition of a miniature powerhouse to compete with the strong selling Buick Excelle will be a major boost to the joint venture.

The outgoing Nissan Tiida has been donated to Dongfeng-Nissan's own sub brand, Qi Chen, and will be remade in late-2011.
