Indomobil National Distribution has announced its acquisition of the distributorship for the Jeep brand in the Indonesian market.
The company has also disclosed plans to establish a Stellantis Brand House in Indonesia. This facility will serve as a hub for Stellantis brands operating in the Indonesian market, with an initial focus on Citroen and Jeep.
Tan Kim Piauw, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Indomobil National Distribution, stated that the implementation of the Stellantis Brand House concept would depend on the availability of showroom facilities and the selection of suitable locations.
"Firstly, we will determine the location, taking into account whether a product like Jeep requires multiple locations. This will be a factor. We will also evaluate which showroom facilities might accommodate more than one brand," Tan explained during a press briefing in Senopati on 18th December.
Tan further indicated that the company remains open to introducing additional Stellantis brands into the network, though no specific details regarding these brands have been provided.
"Are there other brands? Certainly, it is possible that new facilities will be constructed alongside existing ones. This will depend on market studies and requirements, which we will assess later," Tan elaborated.
He emphasised that Indomobil's decision to introduce additional Stellantis brands would be determined by market demand and feasibility.
"There are 15 brands under Stellantis, including Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Jeep, RAM, and Chrysler, among others. For now, we have decided on two additional brands to be launched. Announcements regarding other brands will follow once thorough studies are completed," he further added.
Although no official confirmation has been made, there is speculation that Leapmotor might be among the brands introduced by Indomobil. Leapmotor, a Chinese automotive manufacturer in which Stellantis holds a 20% stake, has been the subject of attention.
In April, the Leapmotor T03, an affordable electric vehicle, was observed undergoing testing on Indonesian roads. This model is currently available in several markets, including Europe, where it is priced starting from EUR 18,900 (US$ 19,670).
