Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that, under Government Order (GO) 41, a new EV policy will come into effect from 18th November. This initiative aims to make Hyderabad pollution-free, he further added.
According to the GO, the government will provide a 100% exemption from road tax and registration fees for electric two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial passenger vehicles such as taxis, private cars, electric three-seater auto-rickshaws, electric light goods carriers including three-wheeled goods vehicles, electric tractors, and electric buses.
For electric buses, the exemption will be applicable for the entire lifespan of EVs operated by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation.
