The Vietnam-made Hyundai Tucson BLK Edition is expected to go on sale in Australia from late 2026, providing an additional source of supply for the market.

Vietnam-made Tucson to be exported to Australia

The Tucson BLK Edition is expected to arrive at Australian dealerships between October and December 2026. Positioned between the Elite and Premium grades, the special edition will feature front-wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain.

Pricing has yet to be announced. However, according to media sources, the expected price is between AUD 48,350 and AUD 50,850 (US$ 34,075-35,840), equivalent to around VND 900 million to VND 946 million (US$ 34,560-36,330), excluding on-road costs.

The Tucson BLK Edition for Australia will be manufactured in Vietnam, while most Tucson models currently sold in Australia are produced in South Korea. If the plan proceeds as scheduled, this will be the first new vehicle manufactured in Vietnam to be officially sold in Australia. Australia will also become the 34th market for vehicles manufactured in Vietnam.

Tucson BLK Edition expected to feature black styling

Hyundai has yet to release official images of the Tucson BLK Edition. However, the version is expected to use styling similar to the Palisade Black Ink, with black accents on the exterior and interior.

The BLK Edition is not expected to receive additional equipment compared with the regular versions. In the US and Canada, the Tucson Night Edition features 19-inch black alloy wheels, gloss-black elements on the front and rear bumpers, door mirrors and window surrounds, as well as a black headliner. The Australian Tucson BLK Edition is expected to follow a similar approach. Exterior paint options are expected to include white, grey and black.

Vietnam to become a new supply source for Australia

Sourcing the Tucson from Vietnam will allow Hyundai Australia to secure additional supply without affecting production allocations in South Korea for other versions. Vietnam and Australia also have free-trade agreements, meaning the vehicles are not expected to incur additional import tariffs as a result of the change in supply source.

A Hyundai Australia representative said the company would import the special-edition Tucson from Vietnam, establishing a new supply channel and making it the first Vietnam-made Hyundai vehicle for the Australian market.

Hyundai Australia has previously sourced vehicles from several countries other than South Korea. The i20 N, for example, was manufactured in Turkey, the 2010-2015 i20 came from India, while some Tucson and i30 versions were previously supplied from the Czech Republic.

However, no new vehicle manufactured in Vietnam has previously been sold in Australia. Hyundai currently manufactures several models in Vietnam, including the Tucson, Santa Fe, Venue, Ioniq 5, Accent and Elantra. Under the new plan, the Tucson BLK Edition will become the first Vietnam-made model to be added to Hyundai Australia's product line-up.
