Yamaha Mio reaches 7 million units sale since its launch
otomotif.kompas.com, 21 May '13

Yamaha Indonesia can be proud of the achievements of Mio as the entry level scooter that broke through the sales of 7 million units since it was first marketed, 2003. Dyonisius Beti, Executive Vice President Director of PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) said.

Mio was first positioned as a motorcycle for a woman with a compact design and light weight. "The momentum is very fitting, many women leaders who appeared at that time ranging from CEO until we have a woman president as well. Women become more willing to perform," explained Dyon in Kemang, South Jakarta on 20th May.

Yamaha Indonesia admitted, in its inaugural year, Mio only sold 2,972 units, but a year later skyrocketed to 46 045 units. Increasing sales every year till it reached 1 million units in 2009. Over the past year, sold 605 833 units Mio, a best-selling model Yamaha. From January to April 2013, total sales reached 161,866 units. If you add up until April 2013, then Mio has managed to record sales of 7 million units, Yamaha claims.

"The position has now changed Mio also not just a model, but so sub brand umbrella for a variety of models underneath," said Dyon.

Eko Prabowo, GM Marketing. Communications and Community Development YIMM added, Mio success can not be separated from the changing trends in the market of motorcycles kind of duck scooter. "Mio Mio Fino and slid last year, following Mio GT this year is getting a positive response from consumers," said Eko.

Transformation

Mio was first launched in 2003 in two variants rim radius. The second-generation 2005 Mio Sporty slide continued with Mio Soul (2007). Furthermore Mio Sporty facelift (2012), Soul GT (2012), Mio A injection (2012) and Mio GT (2013). Unfortunately, Yamaha Indonesia was not willing to give Mio throughout the complete sales data 2003-2013, that figure was limited to claims 7 million alone!

"From the results of our survey, the average home has a motorcycle is definitely one model Mio. Was necessary to the diversity of variants so that consumers do not get bored," Dyon lid.
