Yamaha Motor Vietnam is set to manufacture two new electric scooters, the Nmax E and Xenter E, which were unveiled at EICMA 2026 in Milan, Italy.
The models form part of Yamaha's plans to expand its electric vehicle portfolio for urban mobility markets.
Although both scooters are manufactured by Yamaha Motor Vietnam, they have different designs and riding characteristics.
The Nmax E is positioned as an urban sport scooter for global markets. It combines electric drive technology with design and functional elements associated with the petrol-powered Nmax range. The Xenter E, meanwhile, features 16-inch wheels at both ends, a configuration commonly used on large-wheeled scooters. This setup is intended to improve stability and riding comfort, particularly when travelling over uneven road surfaces.
Nmax E: specifications and features
The Nmax E uses Yamaha's newly developed eAxle electric drive unit, which has a compact and lightweight design. It is powered by a fixed 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a claimed range of 104 km per charge under WMTC standards.
The integrated charger is compatible with household electrical outlets and public charging stations designed for cars. However, Yamaha has not disclosed the charging times. The scooter features a new backbone frame designed to balance low weight with structural rigidity. Its battery and electric motor are positioned close to the vehicle's centre to improve weight distribution and lower the centre of gravity.
Equipment includes three riding modes (S/T/E), a 5-inch TFT display with a dedicated electric vehicle interface and connectivity through the Yamaha Motor On app. The application provides turn-by-turn navigation and allows users to check the scooter's location, distance travelled and remaining battery capacity.
The Nmax E also features a reverse function to assist with manoeuvring in confined parking spaces and on slopes. Storage is provided by an under-seat compartment that can accommodate a full-face helmet, depending on its size. The scooter also has a wide footboard.
Xenter E: specifications and features
Unlike the Nmax E, which has a sport-oriented design, the Xenter E is designed with an emphasis on stability and riding comfort. Its main distinguishing feature is the 16-inch front and rear wheel configuration, which is larger than that typically found on mainstream scooters.
Yamaha has developed a dedicated underbone frame for the Xenter E, designed to improve durability and structural rigidity while controlling weight. The battery and electric motor are integrated within the frame to optimise weight distribution.
The Xenter E also uses Yamaha's compact eAxle electric drive unit and a fixed 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. Its claimed range is 108 km under WMTC standards, which is 4 km more than that of the Nmax E.
Its equipment package is similar to that of the Nmax E, comprising three riding modes (S/T/E), a 5-inch TFT display and Yamaha Motor On app connectivity. The application provides turn-by-turn navigation and information on the scooter's location, distance travelled and remaining battery capacity.
The Xenter E also features a reverse function to assist with manoeuvring in narrow parking spaces and on slopes. Its under-seat storage compartment can accommodate a full-face helmet, depending on its size, while the wide footboard provides additional space for everyday use.
The Nmax E and Xenter E were unveiled at EICMA 2026 as part of Yamaha Motor Vietnam's manufacturing operations for the company's electric two-wheelers intended for international markets. Both models share the same 3.5 kWh battery capacity and eAxle electric drive technology but differ in chassis design, wheel configuration and claimed range.
