Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) has launched the New NMax Turbo, which is the first in Indonesian market and the world.
The scooter comes with various updated touches, both in terms of design and a new engine with advanced technology. The company claims that it will become a trend setter that would bring new standards in the 150cc premium scooter segment in Indonesia.
"This is the most sophisticated NMax in the world, equipped with an increasingly luxurious design, first class features, and also engine performance, adopting the new YECVT technology. So it can provide a Turbo sensation in driving," explained Dyonisius Beti, President Director & chief executive officer (CEO), Yamaha Indonesia Motor, at the launch in Jakarta on 12th June, 2024.
Media sources claim "the newest and arguably the first used by an automatic scooter in the world, the Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (YECVT), provides a pleasant riding experience with a Turbo sensation, replacing the conventional CVT system."
Nmax Turbo uses the latest generation of 'Blue Core' 155cc VVA engine with reliable, strong and has even torque at every engine speed. The engine produces maximum power of 15.1 PS at 8,000 rpm, and maximum torque of 14.2 Nm at 6,500 Rpm.
It has 2 driving features, T-Mode (Town Commuting) and also S-Mode (Sport Touring), which can be operated via the "Mode" button on the front of the left handlebar.
T-Mode is suitable for daily mobility in the city, because the driving character is smoother and fuel efficient. Meanwhile, S-Mode is suitable for use when traveling long distances such as touring, because it offers more responsive driving acceleration.
Based on Yamaha's internal testing results using the S driving mode, the NMax Turbo is able to accelerate faster to cover a distance of 200 meters compared to the previous generation NMax, with a distance difference of 9.2 metres, claims the company.
The Yamaha NMax Turbo is priced at IDR 37.7 million (US$ 2,300). Not only Turbo, Yamaha also presents the NMax Neo variant, sold at IDR 32.7 million, NMax Neo S at IDR 33.7 million, NMax Turbo Techmax at IDR 43.2 million and the highest variant, NMax Turbo Techmax Ultimate at IDR 45.2 million.
