COE prices go up in Singapore

Premiums for Certificates of Entitlement (COE) for vehicles in Singapore have risen across the board, following the first round of June's bidding, which ended on the afternoon of June 3rd. Four categories, with the exception of motorcycles premiums, reached their peaks for 2009, signalling a positive recovery in consumer sentiment. Premiums for small cars (Cat A) registered an 18 per cent increase from May's second round figure, to finish at S$ 11,690 (US$ 8,100) - a high for 2009. COE prices for big cars (Cat B) rose by 29 per cent, to finish at a year-high of S$ 11,889. For goods vehicles and buses, premiums rose by 27 per cent to hit S$ 9,690. A 28 per cent jump for the open category yielded a closing price of S$ 12,901. Cat D for motorcycles showed a marginal 9 per cent increase to end off at S$ 889.
