MG Motor Indonesia aims for 60% Domestic Component Level (TKDN)
Kabar Oto, 21 Oct '26
MG Motor Indonesia has confirmed that the MG ES6, which is currently produced locally, meets the government's minimum Domestic Component Level (TKDN) requirement of 40%.
"Meeting the TKDN requirement is necessary to qualify for support and incentives under Indonesia's electric vehicle regulations. The company plans to increase the use of locally sourced components in its production units," said MG Motor Indonesia Head of Marketing Harry Kurniawan in a recent media interview.
In response to government regulations that will raise the minimum local content requirement (TKDN) to 60% by 2027, MG stated that it had begun preparations to meet the revised threshold. Supply chain adjustments and discussions with local component suppliers are ongoing. These measures are intended to ensure that all MG products comply with the applicable regulations.
"The transition to 60% local content (TKDN) is being implemented gradually, while maintaining vehicle quality and performance standards. The company is also focusing on involving local supporting industries in the electric vehicle component supply chain as part of its development strategy," he further added.
The company confirmed that the initial delivery schedule for the MG ES6 remains unchanged, with deliveries expected to begin in December 2026. Customers who placed orders early are expected to begin receiving locally assembled units towards the end of the year.
When asked about specific sales targets for the MG ES6, the company declined to disclose figures. A company representative stated that the objective was to sell as many units as possible in the Indonesian market.
