The upcoming new Ford Escort will be called Yachiti in China, which means - 'Special Elegant Galaxy'. It will be launched in the second half of 2014.

Escort is part of Ford's ambitious master plan to sell one million cars per year in China by 2015. The Escort will be build by the Changan-Ford joint venture.

The new car is based on the current China-made Focus Classic, which is a slightly dressed up with second generation Ford Focus.

Technically Escort will replace the Focus Classic, and will be positioned under the current third generation Focus.

The Escort however will be powered by different engines which includes a 1.3-litre and a 1.5-llitre, both borrowed from the China-made Fiesta. Some automotive experts say that the 1-litre 3-cylinder Ecoboost may also be launched.
