2014 Foton View Traveller debuts at 2013 Foton Big Show
autoindustriya.com, 27 Nov '13

Foton Motor Philippines held the debut of its new 2014 View Traveller van at the recently held 2013 Big Show event at the World Trade Centre Manila.

The new View Traveller succeeds on the View van in the Chinese-brand dominated high-capacity passenger vehicle category.

The View Traveller receives a styling update to mimic the current Toyota Hiace, the inspiration of every Chinese van maker.

It measures at 5,380 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 2,285 mm high, with a class-leading wheelbase of 3,110 mm.

The interior receives a significant space upgrade thanks to the longer wheelbase and larger body size. The limousine van style seats now feature individual headrests and reclining seatbacks.

All seats feature 3-point safety belts. It is equipped with power windows, mirrors, and door-locks with keyless entry. Entertainment is provided by a 4-speaker audio system with CD/MP3/USB capability.

"We are proud to showcase once more to the Filipino people what we believe are the best commercial vehicle solutions available in the market today," says Rommel Sytin, President of Foton Motor Philippines.

For safety, it is equipped with dual SRS front airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and four-point reverse parking sensors. For passive safety, the steering column is collapsible in the event of a crash; the body has designed with ultra-high strength steel with crash safety bars located on the front fender and doors.

Powering the View Traveller is a detuned Cummins 2.8-litre ISF engine with Bosch CRDi system as debuted in the Thunder pick-up. The engine churns out 130 PS at 3,600 rpm and 280 Nm at 1,400 rpm.

It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Foton claims the workhorse Cummins ISF engine is built for longer maintenance intervals and has a 500,000-kilometre overhaul interval.

The 2014 Foton View Traveller comes in either white or silver and will retail for PHP 1,398,000 (US$ 31,985).
