Renault India issued the following press release on 23rd January announcing the prices for the Scala with automatic transmission.

Renault India Pvt. Ltd, the fully owned subsidiary of Renault S.A.S, today announced the price for the X-tronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) variant of the Renault Scala. With this move, Renault India becomes the first manufacturer to offer the next-generation transmission in the Indian premium sedan segment.

With the all new X-tronic transmission system, the Scala CVT promises to offer higher fuel efficiency and performance as well as a lower cost of ownership than competitive automatic premium sedans. Scala CVT combines pioneering composition with flexibility to provide a benchmark-setting alternate option to existing offerings in the segment with a class-leading fuel efficiency of 17.97 KMPL (ARAI figure), which is also comparable to premium sedans with manual transmission.

Speaking on the occasion, Marc NASSIF - MD, Renault India Pvt. Ltd. said, "With more and more cars on the road as well as frequent stop-and-go traffic, India has been seeing an increase in demand for automatic sedans in recent years. However, despite the growing interest for these cars, petrol automatic vehicles are still limited to a 6% share in the premium sedan segment because they deliver lower mileage and higher cost of ownership".

"The Scala X-tronic CVT aims to bridge this gap by offering class-leading fuel efficiency, reliability and performance. With the next-generation X-tronic transmission, customers will be able to experience a new technological benchmark in automatic transmission which offers a smoother ride, convenience and savings, making the Scala CVT an attractive choice for those opting for an automatic premium sedan."

Loaded with an array of features, the Scala CVT will be available in two petrol variants - the RXL and the RXZ. The variant RXL will offer features including 15'' sporty alloys, dual airbags, Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, electric adjustable mirrors, automatic climate control, multi-information display as well as chrome door handles. The RXZ will additionally offer automaticfoldable mirrors, leather upholsteryand chrome radiator grille.

The Renault Scala RXL X-tronic CVT will be available at Rs. 899,000 (US$ 16,700) (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Renault Scala RXZ X-tronic CVT will be priced at Rs. 989,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
