SABIC to build plastics R&D center in Shanghai

Saudi Basic Industries plans to build a technical center in Shanghai to conduct research and product development. The facility will open in the third quarter of 2013. That center, plus a second facility to be built in Bangalore, India, will employ 500 people. The Shanghai center in addition to three other R&D centers to be built in India and Saudi Arabia will cost 3.1 billion yuan (US$ 500 million). The company did not offer further details about the project. SABIC, which is headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, produces plastics and resins for automotive applications.
